Wannabe Rockstar

Another deluded pursuit to add to my list. Learning to play the Guitar…

Why? Come on! When I was a little kid I would jump around the house singing Bryan Adam’s Summer of 69! Screw nursery rhymes, I learnt to rock when I was 5.

Hell, before I was 5, I used to watch Barney and I remember this episode where Barney was teaching his friends how to make a Guitar using a used tissue box, toilet paper roll, rubber bands and a generous amount of masking tape. I was prancing around the living room making a ruckus with my cardboard guitar.

My interest in learning to play the Guitar should have died there. It’d have saved me lots of trouble.

Alas, no…

During the December Holidays of 2006, I decided I wanted to learn to play the guitar, starting from my Mum’s Left-Hander-Stringed Guitar. Which ended it sorrow because it was a bugger trying to figure out how to play a Southpaw Guitar using a guidebook meant for right handers.

So I gave up and let Secondary 4 distract me for a while.

Alas, no…

I have such a short attention span that I even get distracted from my distractions.

Welcome to Holy Innocents Idol. It’s like American Idol only if you Win, you don’t Win much and if you Lose… You lose big time.

I didn’t join though. I was delusional, but not stupid. So I tried it out at home. Recording myself singing Elevation by U2 and Every Breath You Take by Sting. It did not work out. I dunno, maybe it was because I was whispering the whole fucking song into my microphone because if anyone heard me sing they would probably laugh at me. Maybe if I sang louder it might have wor… No, two deluded pursuits are more than enough.

The madness should have ended there.

Alas, no…

Welcome to FMS. Where Everyone and their Dog knows how to Rock. So I begin feeling awkward. I’m speaking merely from my opinion when I say that I have always had this image of the stereotype FMS Student. Macbook in one hand, Guitar slung on his back, Long Hair and his Clothes Damn Stylish.

So far, I’ve only got the Macbook in on hand. No Guitar. No Long Hair. No Damn Stylish Clothes.

So naturally, surrounded by all this, I get That Old Familiar Feeling. Hope. Stupid, stupid, delusional hope.

Once again, the madness has taken over.

I’m a Wannabe Rockstar and I ain’t proud of it…
